It provides them with the opportunity to start their own studio from scratch and to sell their products through Zawiya’s concept store. FOUNDER

A multidisciplinary creative and an educator of arts and crafts. Being from Mecca, Angawi is inspired by the rich diversity of the culture of Hejaz. His work revolves around the human condition while also paying homage to culture, heritage, and the environment. For Ahmad, his constant pursuit of equilibrium in both design and its application is an attempt to bring balance to the human state of mind.

Hassan Mohammed

WOODTURNER

The founder of Aromat Studio, a wood-turning workshop. He gained mastery in wood turning through self-education and experimentation. He creates bespoke products and trains those interested in creating their own projects. His interest in woodworking started at a young age. He purchased his first lathe in 2018, and he started learning about it through self-education through experiments and watching educational clips on the Internet. Once he reached a decent level of mastering work on it, he then decided in 2021 to take this craft as a profession

Reem Abdulgani designs ageless, flattering pieces for modern women who are in search of unique and individualized fashion pieces that don't compromise either comfort or quality. Reem's work is about empowering women through design and teaching them skills they may not have had the opportunity to explore, and she enjoys passing knowledge and skills to others. She shares her embroidery techniques with the local community and especially women.

MACRAME ARTIST

Noor el-Tahla and Leen AlRas, Co-Founders behind Juthoori, are self taught macramé artists that started the macramé business brand together. Hailing from Palestinian roots, their journey has been an exploration that weaves together tradition, culture, and a profound love for textile art brand. Juthoori provides its commitment to eco-friendly materials and handmade crafts. Each piece created is a labor of love, providing unique individual pieces, and carefully crafted using sustainable materials, to convey their respect for the environment.

Ammar Jiman

ALCHEMIST

Ammar Jiman is an artist and art educator with a background in traditional arts and architecture. He was born in Jeddah to a Saudi family and was raised in Manchester, UK. Ammar graduated from Jameel House of Traditional Arts in Al-Balad and went on to work as a teaching assistant with The Prince's Foundation School of Traditional Arts in AlUla. He has a studio in Zawiya 97, Al-Balad, where he continues to serve the needs of the Art community by offering workshops such as "Making Colours from Nature" or "Mangour Geometry Classes".

SILK-SCREEN PRINTING ARTISTS

Basma and Zainab Mashat are artists with a graphic design background. The journey started when they once joined a silk printing course and enjoyed it. Paved their way towards silk printing. They started experimenting with different designs and patterns, and soon realized that silk printing was their true calling. They decided to pursue this passion and started their own business, creating unique and creative silk printed products.
